This Easter, museums across Wales are bursting with family-friendly activities, from puffin crafts and science parties to vintage markets and chocolate trails. Whether you’re in North, Mid or South Wales, every visit brings you closer to your six stamps… and to scooting away a winner!

North Wales: Creativity, Escapism, and Egg Hunts

In Anglesey, Oriel Môn invites young artists to craft their own 3D animal portraits, a chance to mix imagination with hands-on fun. Over in Bangor, Storiel offers an exhibition “Beyond the Boundary” exploring how garden plants were brought to Wales from across the world, and how their escape from gardens can be detrimental to nature to this day.

Not far away, Greenfield Valley Museum and Heritage Park is running an Easter Egg Trail set within its atmospheric grounds – with chocolatey treats for those who complete the challenge. Meanwhile, the stunning Oriel Plas Glyn y Weddw is alive with spring exhibitions and a joyful sculpture session led by artist Luned Rhys Parri – perfect for a creative family day out.

Mid & West Wales: Egypt, Engines and Eco-Experiments

Families can enjoy a special puffin-themed activity day at Tenby Museum and Art Gallery as an ideal coastal escape, with a creative twist. Carmarthenshire Museum is hosting an Easter trail, a flower-filled plant fair, and an exhibition on Ancient Egypt that brings the mysteries of the past to life.

At Llanelli’s Parc Howard, there’s an egg hunt but also the “Smashing Boundaries” exhibition, highlighting the sporting achievements of Carmarthenshire Women from the early 20th century to today. At Museum of Land Speed, young engineers can build a self-moving car or try rock pool dipping on the beautiful Carmarthenshire coastline. And don’t miss the chance to see “Babs”, the iconic vehicle that broke the land speed record.

At National Wool Museum, science and sustainability meet in family-friendly workshops exploring how wool can be used to build footpaths. An Easter trail and a vibrant science party mean there’s plenty to do – and learn.

In Aberystwyth, Ceredigion Museum will host a Lego workshop in the Welsh language, offering kids the chance to construct their own mini historical worlds – an ideal mix of fun and imagination.

In Swansea, the Glynn Vivian Art Gallery offers a rich selection of Easter activities, including film clubsmini-world creations, and their inclusive, quiet workshops designed for children with sensory needs. The Dylan Thomas Centre brings stories to life with wildflower poetry workshops and a sweet-themed trail inspired by Dylan’s childhood favourites.

Just around the corner, the National Waterfront Museum serves up a “Chocolate Detectives” show and a Museum Eggstravaganza.

South Wales: Spring Markets and More Egg-stravaganzas

At Rhondda Heritage Park, families can step into the Easter Bunny’s underground burrow, enjoy rides and crafts, and meet furry friends at the petting farm – all part of the Easter Egg-stravaganza event.

In Pontypridd Museum, there are hands-on Easter craft sessions for kids, while St Fagans National Museum of Historyoffers an Easter trail through its open-air grounds and fabulous South Wales Makers Market. At National Museum Cardiff, the crafty fun continues with another Easter trail and a Crafty Legs craft fair.

In Monmouthshire, families can head to Abergavenny Castle, Chepstow Museum, and Shire Hall for creative Easter craft sessions set in beautiful, historic surroundings.
